Let’s Misbehave was devised by Anthony Stonier, Carol Trench
and Evan Roberts who are also the performers (Stonier & Roberts on piano,
Trench the vocalist). It is a slick witty revue that takes a
musical journey through the delights, pitfalls, joys and woes that result from
misbehaving …in all its forms!
The revue features two pianos - back to back - two pianists
- face to face - and showcases the two sublime vocal chords of Carol Trench.
Music and songs by Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Sondheim and Tom Lehrer to name a
few are featured. The lyrics of LET’S DO IT and MRS BALLS are original and
written by the cast. Everything is
deliciously naughty, filled with double entendre and designed for a
sophisticated audience of any age.
Not since “Handful of Keys” several years ago has South
Africa witnessed this style
of revue. “Let’s Misbehave”
stars Carol Trench, Evan Roberts and Anthony Stonier. The aim is a return to simple yet
sophisticated old fashioned revue. It is
played on a stage with a black surround, good but simple lighting, only one costume change, no backing tracks, smoke machines
or electronic tricks. It show cases truly talented piano playing and singing.
“Let’s Misbehave” is
a must for lovers of the piano, of nostalgic music, witty and often naughty
lyrics and fine vocal skill.
In 2002 it will have another return season in Durban
(February) as well as seasons at On Broadway in Cape
Town (March), at a supper theatre in Johannesburg
(May) and at the Maitisong Festival in Botswana
(April)
