Themselves undisputed masters at their own particular crafts, actor/director Garth Anderson and pianist Andrew Warburton will soon be presenting OUT IN THE MIDDAY SUN, a brand new version of their decades old though highly popular musical revue, NAUGHTY NOEL, The Music, Wit and Humour of The Master Noel Coward.

Persuaded by the management of Rhumbelow, this sparkling team of thespian eptitude has unwrapped out of its mothballs this wonderful piece of musical homage to perhaps the greatest English theatrical genius of the Twentieth Century. They have also given it a sparkling new coat of polish by bringing in a talent as yet unexposed to Master Coward’s verbal and terpsichorean brilliance in the form of gorgeous Clare Mortimer. She will join the dynamic duo to act as a foil to Anderson’s performance, and to lend an air of sexy feminine svelte to many of the musical numbers.

Presenting its audience with the very best theatrics of that Master of Twentieth Century entertainment, the cast of OUT IN THE MIDDAY SUN delves deep into Noel Coward’s repertoire to explore (mostly with tongues firmly in cheeks)  his philosophy on sin, sex and sadness, love, life and laughter, friendship, fun and fame, tits, travel and trauma, murder, mayhem and marriage. As director and compiler, Anderson has trawled pages and pages of Coward’s plays from PRIVATE LIVES through TONIGHT AT 8.30, and taken the time to read his autobiography and his diaries and has tinkered together a script filled with humour and delight.

Likewise, pianist Warburton has paged through volumes of sheet music and come up with such glittering Coward gems as Some Day I’ll Find You and You Were There to tug at the heartstrings of even the most jaded of Twenty First Century audiences. As well as thrilling both old aficionados and new Coward recruits alike with Anderson’s hilarious renditions of such comic genius as The Stately Homes Of England, Don’t Put Your Daughter On The Stage Mrs Worthington, A Bar On The Piccolo Marina and the perennial favourite Mad Dogs And Englishmen, from which the ambiguous title of the revue has unashamedly been purloined, OUT IN THE MIDDAY SUN will give theatregoers the chance to sit back and relax and marvel at the sheer artistry of Warburton’s years of experience at the classical keyboard when he plays the more lyrical of Coward’s music as a balance to Anderson’s comedy.

Joining the two old hacks onstage, the beautiful and talented Clare Mortimer (who has just completed two exhausting seasons in Anderson’s Actors Co-operative productions of Macbeth and Othello) will be given the opportunity to display hitherto unknown virtuosity by singing Twentieth Century Blues and other Coward rarities.

OUT IN THE MIDDAY SUN is true theatrical entertainment at its very best. The most splendid music and comedy of the English Theatre, performed by the best this country has to offer, it is a revue that should not be missed. Coupled with the fact that Rhumbelow has gained a reputation that cannot be matched for exciting entertainment in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, it is best to book immediately to avoid disappointment.
