Durban’s own
Operatic Star soprano Stacey Almond returns to the Rhumbelow in a brand new
show. Together with KZNPO Bulgarian
Violinist Attina Petrova and popular
pianist David Daniel they are now called “CROSS CURRENT”, and perform some
of the hottest classical crossover music
out there.
Music of the
Night and the title theme from Phantom of the Opera, get a whole new makeover
- Moonlight Sonata with words! Vivaldi with a backing and N’essun Dorma like
you’ve never heard it before. And
that’s just for starters!
The beautiful
song ‘Every Time I Look at You’ by superstar group IL DIVO, ‘Signorita’ from Carmen by British All girl
rock string quartet BOND gets words!
VANESSA MAE’S stunning Electric Violin ‘Sabre Dance’ by
Katchaturian, AMICHI THE OPERA BAND,
ANDREA BOCELLI, THE OPERA BABES Lakme Duet, ‘Oh Fortuna’ from Carmina Burana,
and a whole lot more. Following on
from their show here last year, with special arrangements written by David
Daniel, the music will take your breath away!
CROSS CURRENT
have had a very busy and successful year so far - performing as one of the main
attractions at this year’s Durban July, and the recent Gateway Fashion
Extravaganza, and in November Stacey will be travelling to Dubai. They have engagements in Joburg and at Cape
Town’s Artscape Theatre in 2006.
