Zsa Zsa Gabor said it best:

"I have never hated a man enough to give him back his diamonds".

After all,

A kiss on the hand may be quite continental,

But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Men, on the other hand, are less romantic than pragmatic - have you ever tried to part him from his favourite pair of denims? From Levi Strauss's original copper-riveted "waist-overalls", as jeans were then known, to being a fashion icon in the 1950's with the release of The Wild Ones in 1953 starring Marlon Brando, and the seminal Rebel Without a Cause (1955) starring James Dean. In both movies the stars wore blue jeans, black leather jackets and tight, white t-shirts.

But Diamonds and Denim in the same sentence? Why not? In a world where fashion flaunts convention, wealth is ostentatious, and the 60's generation is still wearing their 501s, dress up, dress down!

And all the while there was the music to go with it.

DENIM TO DIAMONDS is a celebration of the music that goes with Diamonds - and there is plenty of music singing its praises - and Denim, that iconic and timeless fashion item which transcends generations and says so much about its wearer. Dress up, dress down. From Paul Simon's Diamonds on the Souls of her Feet to the Beatles' Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - symbolic of the flower-power generation, hippies and embroidered bell-bottoms. Denims, of course.

So when John and Paul sang "Say you don't need no diamond rings, and I'll be satisfied", they were only kidding. The diamond is still the symbol of eternal love, just as - we suggest - denim remains the symbol of timeless fashion.

Here we have an anthology of words, music and dance celebrating the story of love - symbolised by the diamond - and that fashion statement of the last 60 years, the blue jean, into one huge shout for our generation: Denim and Diamonds!
