Hot news if you love a good laugh! Popular stage star Lisa Bobbert (Defending the Planet, Brutal Tunes) unleashes her lethal comedic skills once more.

 Macbob Productions presents Bobbert Uncut

Lisa’s latest solo stage show reunites the actress with director Caroline Smart, Durban’s veteran mistress of comedy. Their sensational collaboration on Brutal Tunes two years ago spawned a smash hit. If you’re new to the experience, be warned. Bobbert’s a hazard to tender abs. You may end up aching on all fours in the aisles. In Bobbert Uncut, prepare to meet Lisa in kaleidoscopic mode, shown up by a gallery of alter-egos and others, whose lives have crossed paths with hers. Hilarious personal retrospectives date back to her Rosebank Convent schooldays in the ’80s. Stand by for an unfortunate encounter in a pub, as hard-nosed (“Alcohol leads to vahlence”) Chantal dishes out a klap or two to Lisa and her mate. Those “big-ass, big-hair Sandton chicks” have been checking out her cool dude boy friend, Rat . . .

As Bobbert turns the mirror on Lisa, handing it from one ‘presenter’ to the next, a succession of sharply-drawn portraits by all-too-transparent narrators emerge. Hogging the spotlight (whenever she can) is Lisa’s lifelong best-friend, Charmaine, a signature character in the McIlroy-Bobbert stable. She never really had much time for our girl. True to comedy at its richest, Bobbert Uncut suggests life is more than just a giggle. Its physically punishing script (those poor abs) is touched with some bittersweet undertones, and spiked with a selection of songs, sometimes whacky, sometimes telling (Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Brass in Pocket, Pata Pata, Don’t Stop Me Now, Absolutely Everybody).…
