cruise down memory lane and be tempted to renew your vows as the electric love
duo Durban Diva Pinkie Mtshali and the charming Kobus van Niekerk serenade you
this Valentine weekend with a slick sophisticated yet hilarious cabaret called
Just the two of us. Their delicious dashing presentation will have you melting
into your lovers arms with songs including When you tell me that you love me,
Ebony and Ivory and their South African version of the famous duet by Kenny
Rogers and Dolly Parton’s Island in the stream, amongst others.

van Niekerk
Kobus
was born in Gauteng and moved to Durban to pursue his musical career. Kobus won
various awards including the Queensburgh and Ethekweni eisteddfods. He has been
guest singer with the Kwazulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and is a member of
the Durban Symphonic Choir. Kobus has performed in theatre productions like,
Far from the madding crowd, Bravissimo, Tom Jones and Johnny Mathis, Absolutely
Fabulous, The Gold Cup, The Octaves, Take Note as well as appearing in numerous
cabaret shows with different musicians including June Nel, Durban diva Pinkie
Mtshali and Jonathan Didlick amongst others. Kobus is the lead singer of the
Afrikaans band JANEE and will be releasing a cd later this year.

Pinkie’s
many successful appearance have included shows such as Quennie in Showboat,
Mother Goddess in Hair the Rock musical, Mother in Amahl and the night
visitors, Strawberry woman in Porgy and Bess, Martha in Faust, Debut with Mimi
Coertzee, Numerous cabaret with different artists like Joseph Clark and Aviva
Pelham and numerous concerts with KZN Philharmonic, City and KZN youth
orchestra, Capetown Philharmonic orchestra, Johannesburg City orchestra, just
to mention a few. Having received speech and drama training at the upstairs
Theatre with Sara Essa and vocal technique training with Sandra de Villiers at
Natal Technikon’s academy of music and Opera singer Virginia Davids whilst in
Capetown working with CAPAB Opera Chorus at Arts Cape. Pinkie is the founder
and director of the popular Durban Divas, Pinkie is a busy cabaret artist and
resourceful events organizer. Her incredible stage performances has won her
several awards like Durban Arts, Samro, Gwen Striecter, Eistedfod and the Gcina
Mhlophe and Daily news achievers award for her incredible work she does with
the community and she was invited to perform in Seychelles for the Prince of
Dubai at his birthday. In August this year Pinkie will star in a one-woman show
called Divalicious.
