In June 2007, The Rhumbelow Theatre will celebrate 6 years

Our first show paid for the toilet alterations and some 6 years later we have a stunning little venue in Umbilo. Who would have said that this venue would continue to thrive for these 6 years. The time has come to upgrade the venue again and this is for a complete revamp of all our lighting and to put in a professional lighting system. This will place us well on the map as a strong and well equipped Fringe Theatre offering opportunity for performers and shows alike. We have had over 70 shows, hosting some 100 performers over the last 6 years.

The FAMILY PLAYERS will be performing a collection of the audience favourites  and this money in its entirety will go to the new equipment which will place us as one of the best equipped Fringe Theatres in the country. With a full year of theatre ahead we need to improve our facilities to ensure that it is a player in the entertainment scene in Durban for the next 20 years.

What are the plans for  the venue?  and how we have done in the 6 years.

An update on the Moth Project and where we are against the targets we set for ourselves some 5 years ago.

There where 5 Objectives - in priority

1)Renovate the Moth Hall to ensure its sustainability in to the future

2)Equip the Moth Hall for sustainability in to the future

3)Give opportunity for new shows to trial before hitting main stream theatre

5)Assist with Moth Projects in the area and any other project that is within our means.

All in all, I do not think we have faired too badly.

Do we have a venue that is renovated?

Do we have a venue that is reasonably equipped?

Have we given new shows a space to trial the product?

Have we given a space for old shows to get extra life out of the product?

Have we assisted with some projects?

Yes we have, and we will continue to maintain these objectives into the future.
