“Wild & Fragrant” is Meyer’s eagerly awaited third show on one of= S.A.’s finest literary masters: Herman Ch= arles Bosman.

Herman Charles Bosman (1905-= 1951) was a South African writer and journalist who became famous for capturing t= he rhythms of backveld Afrikaans speech even thoug= h he wrote in English. He is widely regarded as the greatest short story writer = to come out of this country. His books are some of the finest in the field of South-African literature.

Whether you have read Bosman’s works or not, “Wild & Fragrant” will no doubt delight= and surprise you. It is challenging, brilliantly written and eminently entertaining!

The show is directed by the formidable and talented Bets Basson. Basson= was formerly a speech and drama critic in Johannesburg, as well as the head of = the drama department at the J= ohannesburg College of Education’s Center for Gifted Children. She is an honoury member of the Board of Adjudi= cators at the Speech & Drama College of S.A. and has published three = books on drama. She has directed both of Meyer’s previous Bosman successes, which were performed countrywide. Again, in ‘Wild & Fragrant’ Basson has excelled.

So expect comical and witty storytelling through the mouth of a rather attrac= tive blonde khaki boer as= well as through the eyes of a veld maiden. A little rom= antic, very sensual but of course touched with Bosman’s= unmistakable irony, humour and wit.
