Timothy Moloi, who was recently seen performing at the OPENING CEREMONY of the FIFA 2010 WORLD CUP to an estimated global audience= of 500 million viewers, will be performing his first one man show, A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS, at The Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban. With his smooth-as-vel= vet voice and masterful range, Moloi is one of South Africa’s most extraordinary talents.

As the title of the show suggests, Timothy Moloi will perform a selection of his favourite music, ranging from musical theatre hi= ts to his popular cover versions of songs by well known artists such as The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and even Mika, interspersed with conversation with t= he audience about his connection with the songs, in an informal atmosphere. Well-known to Durban audiences for his performances with The Jonny Cooper B= ig Band, he will also perform music from the big band era made famous by artis= ts such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Sammy David Jnr<= /span> and, more recently, Michael Buble. Audiences ca= n also expect to hear music from his double SAMA (MTN South African Music Awards) nominated debut album LOVE THAT MUSIC which was released last year, to crit= ical acclaim.

Born and raised in Orlando, Soweto;= Timothy Moloi grew up in a home filled with song. It is= this love for music, and his flair for infusing familiar and beloved standards w= ith a new freshness, that has made him a favourite with audiences throughout South Africa. He returned to South Africa in 1999, having completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Ohio Wesleyan University in the USA. Since then Timothy has led a busy performance schedule, and has had the pleasure of singing with the kw= aZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cape= Philharmonic Orchestra, the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra and the Sow= eto Gospel Choir.

Television performances have included the 16th MTN SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC AWARDS, two MISS SOUTH AFRICA pageants, SABC3 JOBURG POPS, the SABC2/Sowetan COMMUNITY BUILD= ER OF THE YEAR AWARDS and the MNET "HEROES AGAINST CRIME" AWARDS, as well as several guest appearances on popular programes= such as MORNING LIVE, SPIRIT SUNDAE, WORLD TODAY, TML, etv SUNRISE, KTV and NOOT VIR NOOT. He has appeared in numerous South African s= tage productions at The Lyric Theatre (MOTOWN GOLD), the Pr= omusica Theatre (COMING HOME), the Joburg Theatre (THE = LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS), the Theatre Marcellus (MOTOWN MAGIC), the Barnyard Theatr= es (A TRIBUTE TO FRANK SINATRA), the Sand du Plessis Theatre (THE ELVIS LAS VEGAS EXTRAVAGANZA) in Bloemfontein, the Artscape Opera Theatre (BRING ON BROADWAY) in Cape To= wn and The Playhouse (10th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT) in Durban.

A most memorable experience for him was performing for President Nelson Mandela an= d Graca Machel, as well as = Crown Prince Willem Alexander and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands. He also performe= d at THE ENTHRONEMENT OF THE KING OF THE BAFOKENG at the Sun City Superbowl, and at the ACRES OF LOVE Benefit at the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. Other highlights have included performances at the AFRICA PEACE AWARDS, Oprah Winfrey's LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE event, the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP BID BANQUET, t= he NEDERBERG WINE AUCTION, the FANCOURT BALL, the FNB STARLIGHT POP OPERA conc= ert and at the opening of the new ICC Arena in Durban, on the same bill as Al <= span class=3DSpellE>Jarreau and George Benson.<= /span>

Moloi has sung t= he South African National Anthem at several major South African sports events, including the Vodacom Tri-Nations and the Summer Cup. He also performed at = the send-off banquet for the Springboks, prior to their victory in the 2007 Rugby World Cup. In 2008 he performed at the announ= cement of the South African Paralympic Squad.

Most recently Moloi has performed at the 2009/2010 SA CRICKET SEASON LAUNCH, the SOCCEREX GALA BANQUET, the CARNIVAL SYMPHONIC PO= PS, the MACUFE Festival, the AARDKLOP National Arts Festival, the NEDBANK CAPIT= AL BALL, the ANGLO GOLD JEWELRY AWARDS, the SANLAM GREAT UMBRELLA BALL, the 20= 08 CAR OF THE YEAR announcement and at the KZNPO Heartstrings Concert in Durba= n. He was also honoured to be invited to sing at Albertin= a Sisulu's 90th birthday celebrations.=

Timothy Moloi’s powerful acoustic versions of som= e of today’s biggest hits can also be heard online on YouTube, featuring h= is smooth renditions of some of the world’s biggest songs including One Republic’s Apologise, Kelly Clarkson’s My Life Would Suck Witho= ut You and a host of others. His rendition of Ne-Yo's Mad has received almost 100,000 hits to date on YouTube.<= /i>
