THE RODEO GIRLS= have achieved top acclaim in International Dancing competitions held in the U.S.A. and their glamorous costumes add glitter to the event.

The futu= re looks bright for the big country legend Lance James.

Recently returning from performing at KKNK, in the concert “Huisgenoot Goue Treffers in Duet” alongside many other popular artists like = Fredi Nest, Kurt Darren, Ray Dylan, Clive Bruce, Nicholis Louw, Barbara Ray, Min Shaw, Die Campbells, Elizma Theron, Denn= is East and Alan Garrity.

Lance al= so performed at Silverstar Casino with his group “Country Legends” in May with great success, as well as the Rose Festival in Klerksdorp.   He also performs regularly together with the legendary Min Shaw. In June he performed at the Innibos arts festival in Nelspruit =

There is= evidently no time for taking it easy!

Lance Ja= mes has more than 50 years of experience as singer and entertainer. The name Big Da= ddy was given to him by another artist, Tommy Dell, years ago – and it has stuck!

Lance James is known as a versatile= artist who is well loved for the special bond he forms with his audiences during h= is performances. He is also popular as a radio announcer and started his long career in broadcasting in 1954. He still does radio work for Radio Today, Radio Panorama in the Free State and Impala Radio in Perth, Australia, and also in Namibia= and recently the South Coast KZN has been added. His programme “Keep It Country” has been on the air for 35 years.

He has p= erformed abroad and has released more than 70 albums, including a few gospel albums.=

Several = awards have been given to him during his career, including two honorary awards from the ATKV for his contribution to Afrikaans music. He has also been the recipient of six Sarie awards and a Vonk award for lifetime achievement. A Tempo award for lifetime achievement was also awarded to him at Huisge= noot Skouspel at Sun City in 2009.   The radio stat= ion IFM in Vanderbijlpark awarded Lance James with = three awards in February this year. Listeners were able to vote for the prizes, a= nd therefore they were all the more special. The prizes were for country singe= r of the year for 2010, the number one country hit for his version of Please Release Me, as well as the top ten country artist of the year. These aw= ards clearly go to show that Big Daddy, as he is also known, is still very popul= ar with the public. He also received the SAMA Lifetime Achievement Award in Ju= ne 2011.

For Lanc= e James it remains one of life’s greatest joys to perform in front of an audienc= e. Says Lance James: “I am so grateful for the ability and health to sti= ll perform and I will be doing it until it becomes impossible!”
